Plantersbank opens Business Centers in Davao and Cebu
Planters Development Bank (Plantersbank) recently opened two Business Centers in Davao and Cebu in its aim to promote greater dynamism among Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and contribute to the economic expansion in Visayas and Mindanao.
The Plantersbank Davao Business Center opened on March 3 at the C. Villa-Abrille Building on C.M. Recto Street in Davao City. Its counterpart in the Visayas opened doors two weeks earlier in downtown Cebu City.
According to Plantersbank president and chief operating officer Maria Flordelis F. Aguenza during her visits to confer with SME clients in Davao and Cebu, Plantersbank Business Centers are expected to make a strong impact among small business owners.
“The SME sector which is largely underserved by other financial institutions can now have access to more credit windows that will enable them to strengthen their operations,” Ms. Aguenza said.
The opening of both the Davao and Cebu Business Centers further solidifies Plantersbank’s strong presence in these cities.
Significantly, Plantersbank has acquired a majority ownership of the Davao-based subsidiary Micro Enterprise Bank last year.
MEB, a micro-finance institution was established in 2001 by Plantersbank and the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation to help alleviate poverty by making credit available to the low-income, self-employed sector.
The Plantersbank Business Centers in Davao and Cebu will focus on helping accelerate development of the region through SME-focused services.
Among the products and services the Plantersbank Business Centers offer are SME credit lines and term loans and consumer finance services including the multi-purpose Mortgage Optimizer loans and HandyCredit personal loan facilities.
