Imus, Cavite-Plantersbank employees turned out in force to volunteer their labor to prepare three permanent housing units for occupancy by beneficiaries of the Maryville Gawad Kalinga project for informal settlers in Barangay Buhay na Tubig. The houses were built thanks to the generous financial grant from the pooled donations of Plantersbankers themselves.

“This occasion is significant because it also happens to be the first project in which the men and women of Plantersbank are taking a physical role-and when I mean physical role, I mean investing their muscle power and their sweat of brow so that three families will realize the Filipino dream to have a house that they can truly call their own,” Plantersbank chairman Ambassador Jesus P. Tambunting said before leading more than 50 employees in the finishing work alongside the beneficiaries of the GK project.

Founded in 2001, Gawad Kalinga envisions a country with NO MORE SLUMS and hopes to put up 700,000 homes in 70,000 sites over a 7 year period. Plantersbank has pledged to support activities of the Gawad Kalinga program, which also involve entrepreneurship promotion and community services.
