Cebu City—The SME Speaker Series, an advocacy initiative of Planters Development Bank debuted in this city with the lecture “Leading through Difficult Times” featuring enterprise guru Francis J. Kong.

Kong, an internationally-accredited management consultant, author and columnist, spoke at the invitation-only event at the Sinulog Ballroom of the City Sports Club Cebu, to a veritable who’s who in Cebu business and industry including stalwarts of the newly-formed SME-based Filipino Cebuano Business Club.
Ambassador Jesus P. Tambunting, chairman of Plantersbank said his bank conceived the SME Speakers Series to be the venue where Filipino entrepreneurs can personally meet the gurus and visionaries of management and get acquainted with the cutting edge ideas in wealth creation, entrepreneurial design and self mastery. The SME Speakers Series is the newest addition to Plantersbank’s program for Enabling Entrepreneurs.
Last year, Plantersbank unveiled the SME Business Park—the first industrial park for SMEs in the country, followed by the SME.Com.Ph I.T. Forums and Road Show—a campaign to promote information technology use and build confidence in web-based marketing practices among Filipino entrepreneurs.
Following its auspicious beginning in Cebu, the Plantersbank SME Speakers Series will circuit through Metro Manila, Northern and Southern Luzon and Mindanao and feature themes concerning the SME Community.
